INSTALLING LASER CUT NUMBER PLATES!! - @monsta_plates

By Bianca London for MailOnline. A supercar fanatic fed up with missing out on offers of dates from women who spotted him diriving his Ferrari F has launched an app that he hopes will be the key to revving up Britain's sex lives. Women were apparently so desperate to meet him that they contacted a local luxury car dealer to be put in touch with the owner. Marc Ackerley R with Lawrence Cookson L , who developed the app, was fed up with missing out on offers of dates so created a way of tracking someone down via their car registration. Fuelled by this new-found female attention and his worry that he was missing out on offers from women who had admired him and his car from afar but wouldn't think of contacting a car dealership, the businessman set up Platewave. The app which allows admirers to contact any car owner in the country. All you do is sign up to the website or app and send a message or a 'wave' to any registration plate.

August as the only month for change continued until when in the run up to the next major change car registration letters started to be changed twice a year. On 1 March the letter T was introduced and for the first time since the early 's you could definitely say which year a car was made in by its registration letter. For a while this caused some confusion with people being unsure of how the system was working with now having two letters per year. One of them the March letter was definitely in one year but the second letter which came out in August covering the period untl the end of the following February.

On 1 August a new system came in. The 51 was to indicate that it was registered in the latter part of This numbering system is to designed to last for 50 years.

Number Plate Years and Car Registrations Formats

When in March the next registration digits came out they were This made it a lot easier for recognising how old a car is. But then the August change brought in 52 and people were confused again. A simple rule of thumb with the new method is that if the two digits could be a year in this century then it is a year in this century.

So 02, 03, 04 and 05, for now. If the number is too high then take 50 off it. So 51 becomes 01, 52 becomes 02 and so on.

Of course these are the August letters and so they cover the period into February of the next calendar year and they are the numbers which give a rougher indication of the year of registration as it could be any time between 01 August and 01 March. Well the following table may help you. The new registration always comes in on the first of the month. Then the new numbering system came in in August The following table showes the prefix letters from to Once again it always changed on the first of the month.

Some people choose to have personal registrations and these often lent themselves more to the older numbering system than the new one.

Three letters a number and then a letter can be quite amusing if you read '1' and 0 and 5 as I, O and S. It can also mislead people on the age of a car if a number plate has sentimental value and is transferred from vehicle to vehicle as the owner buys new ones. However it is not legal to buy a newer number plate to use on an older car. This is a topic in its own right which will not be covered here.
